The Essence of Prayer Part 1

The essence of prayer is conversation. Isn’t that simple? The word essence in basic terms means, ” it is what it is,” and using it here, prayer and conversation is simply “it is what it is.” We as a people try to make prayer too hard, and if we have been around someone who knows God a little better than we do, from them it sounds too easy. I have been told by people in private that they don’t know how to pray, or afraid they can’t. I took them to the book of Psalms, and showed them how to pray the scriptures. It is a good way to get started, and can help us learn to converse with the Lord. Madame Guyon, who lived in the sixteenth century, wrote a book called, “A Simple Way to Pray.” I recommend it highly. God wants to meet us right where we are and as our heavenly father, He desires to talk with us, even if it just for a few minutes at a time. Early morning is a good time, or maybe for some, late evening, but whichever it is, give Him the best time. You know, like Hallmark – “care enough to give the very best.” Be Blessed and Remain a Blessing.
