Building Blocks

Building Blocks
Remember the good old days of our early childhood when mom and dad would bring home a toy for us to play with. One of the favorite toys was the wooden building blocks. I think we all had a lot of fun stacking those blocks every way we could and then knocking them down. Boy! That was so much fun, we would start all over again and try to build them up as high as we could before knocking them down again. Mom and dad would sit by watching, and once in a while get down and play with us in building a square house or show us a better way to stack the blocks. All the while they were trying to show a child ways to build a good foundation.
Those were the days of building blocks of childhood. To many a parent, the children represented their building a child with a firm foundation for life. The outer building block is one big lesson. That is at the earliest age, with son or daughter making choices. With a gentle hand, rejoicing with them, they will give strength to continue making choices. The inner blocks to build up the soul are love, trust, forgiveness, peace, and patience, among others. They are a sure foundation to start with. We, along with children, will learn that our choices are the steering wheel for direction. As our children grow its never easy to let the reins of control slip through our fingers, trusting God for wisdom to share, and trust the wisdom God will share with each child. Knowing with time and revelation God will help them choose what he wants them to be. With our support and prayers, trusting God to guide them to their calling in Christ Jesus. It’s never easy to let go. As a parent it won’t hurt to remind them all the roads they will travel always will lead them back home, and the door is always open.
